Northwest Colorado Springs AreaThe Northwest area of Colorado Springs is an attractive and generally higher-priced area because of its scenic terrain, parks, and schools. Attractive homes in good condition priced under $250,000 are harder to find here than in other parts of Colorado Springs. This northwest side is also known as "Rockrimmon." Discovery is the name for a community of homes located south of Woodmen Road in the area of Delmonico Drive and Big Valley Drive. This is an area of custom homes, many on superb wooded lots, with homes priced from $270,000 to $425,000. Oak Hills is an area of homes located along Oak Hills Drive, which begins opposite Foothills Elementary off Allegheny Drive. As Oak Hills Drive winds up atop large hills, homes are higher priced and views are exceptional. Oak Hills home prices range from the $260,000s to the $600,000s, with most homes priced in the $300,000s. Home sizes range from 3000 to 7000 total square feet, and date from 1988 to brand new. Some homes on view lots border and overlook the Air Force Academy. Homes here are priced from the $360,000s to $1,300,000, and range in size from 3000 to 7000 total square feet. Homes date from 1988 through brand new. To reach this area, start on Rusina Road on the west side of I-25 (from Garden of the Gods Rd. on the south or Rockrimmon Blvd. on the north), and enter on Popes Valley Drive. Homes here range from $280,000 to $525,000; most homes are priced in the $300,000s and $400,000s. They range from 2000 to 5000 total square feet and are built from the 1970s through the 1990s. Woodstone is another community, located south of Woodmen Road mostly along Dancing Horse Drive and Carlson Drive. Homes range in price from the $240,000s to the $390,000s, with many priced around $300,000. These homes vary in size from 2000 to 4000 total square feet, and were built from 1986 to 1997. Mountain Shadows is the name for a large area of homes located along Flying W Ranch Road and Centennial Drive. This part of the Northwest area is particularly convenient to the high-tech workplaces along Garden of the Gods Road to the south. Home prices range from the $250,000s to the $600,000s, with some special hilltop custom homes priced to $1 million. Most homes in Mountain Shadows are in the $300,000 to $500,000 price range; they range in size from 2500 to 5000 total square feet, and were built from 1985 to 2000, with some brand new homes.
